+ 1 on using thicker panels. If you're using a couple of hundred Watts 12 mm is fine, around 1 kW per driver I would prefer at least 15 mm myself. If that's truly going to be 2 kW (the DS100 will handle that) then 18 mm is a good idea.

For Cubo Infra and similar designs, in 'direct radiator mode' there is more in band THD present (~40 - 60 Hz). This does help with the impression of 'faster bass' and sounds better with faster BPM (120+) music. In down-firing mode, the lack of THD sounds better with low BPM (und thus most hip hop songs). My guess is that it's the backwave that comes from the driver, via the chamber or port, that travels through the cone of the driver that is responsible for this effect.

Just posting here in case it's helpful - I couldn't seem to find a model so I designed and 3D printed a simple grille while I work towards a perforated steel one. I made it to be interference fit with a strip of closed cell foam just inside the horn mouth - blocks in each corner to stop it pushing further into the opening. It seems reasonably rigid in PETG, but yet to test it for vibrations at full tilt. I suspect this may well be an issue which will require a redesign - there's a reason most PA speaker grills are steel I guess. But at least for now it's more difficult for people to stick their feet (or coats) inside the horn! I can share the STL if anyone is interested but it will require resizing as I think my horn mouth may not be the same as many THAM15 builds ( 460mm x 250mm).
