I'm just starting out in the DIY world and am looking for a scope that will last a while. i.e. not need replaced due to capability short-comings. My interest is in building analogue components starting with a TT power supply and phono stage. An active crossover would probably be next (orion kit), then who knows. Would this be an appropriate scope?

Below you can see what kind of s uck s is expected with such an instrument ....

But if you're duly resolute, may be you have a great instruments that is more than enough for audio.
I'll try to gather my thoughts.
But this is difficult because here it is very hot.
And I do not can in English.
Ps.:
By the way I like your signature.

You can expect to be addressed with the instrument.
It is strongly recommended, replacing the power supply capacitors.
The board A5 leaking capacitors can cause problems.
I think the price is good anyway.
But, it is contains a test lead?
Because if not, the matching P6137 is quite expensive:
Tektronix P6137 400 MHz Oscilloscope Probe New Sealed - eCrunch - Call us toll free (888)449-7653
From this now, four pieces would be needed
I got for mine two pieces, for €185.

Less expensive generic probes can be used without issue, as long as they can be adjusted to the input capacitance of the scope (and they usually can). Finding inexpensive 400+ MHz probes is difficult, but 250 MHz ones are easier to find, and 250 MHz still easily exceeds what is needed for audio use, even if they are slightly below the capabilities of the scope.
But you be careful, and log in here, before buy:

Maybe, you will need this sometime then.

The 24XX series were some of the best analog scopes ever made. A few supply issues but there isn't much that can compete for displaying signals other than the Tek 79XX series.
