You don't say whether it's the driver or output transistor or what power level, Hi-fi or G.P. you want. There are some big chips in TO220 cases (BD912, MJE2955 etc.) but you wouldn't use them as drivers and vice-versa. The MJE150xx series are excellent drivers for medium-high power as well as 2SA1837 (TO220F).
It's a TIP42, if that means anything to ya.
It does but I have only your word for it. It's not that I don't trust you but shouldn't the datasheet be more complete? I've heard of reading between the lines but there aren't even lines.
