i have two 15's when i put a ohm meter on the leads they are all over the place and the dust cap gets really hot when playing.but they still sound pretty good.are they going bad?
If you check ohms with speaker disconnected it usually shows a little less than rated, so a 4ohm coil might show 3.7 ohms. It will change if you move the cone, and you can't check them hooked up to an amp.
these subs was unhooked from the amp they are d2 ohm the coils read from .8 to 5.7 without the cones moving the reading is fluctuating it is never a consistent reading, maybe just my meter going bad.
Yes I would check meter or connections first as that would be pretty strange if sub is just sitting there. If you can look up the full specs on the sub it should tell you what actual ohms are.
