What is the best way to add some sort of balance control to a 2 channel stereo amp/system that does not have one?
I just want to be able to cut one channel or the other on ocasion and most times both channels wiil be at their max.
So, a seperate control for each channel would do it.

A L pad attenuator for each channel would provide what you need. 50k each channel will give the volume range adjustment.

I assume that would be on each channel's input..........
I happen to have two 8 ohm 50w L-pads on hand gathering dust.... would they work in the input of each channel?
These are the ones I have...
L-Pad 50W Mono 1" Shaft 8 Ohm 260-255
I would prefer to to put them on the input. Would that be OK?
Would the 8 ohm impedance efffect the input in any way?
Would a pot be better on the inputs?
What about this?

Hi
No, will not work properly because input impedance/ output impedance at line level is quite different to that of the amplifier/ speaker output. The L pad you show, is a wire wound element that suits 8 ohm speaker use.
Best to get the part you need for the purpose required.
