sorry I forgot signal ground in the picture above -42 are connect to R cathod.
I like to know what the best ccs current 3-4 time than real actual use . that enough ? And high ccs VS low ccs which good for sound performance.

Don't use lower than 100mA CCS because its good for the regulator itself even when you need just 10mA. If needing 100mA Iq then 200mA is good and 300mA even better for example.

Assembling kits with no alterations is one thing but choosing your own components is there I need to ask for a help please :)
If I need for instance 18v 60ma Max current draw I will use:
Transformer with 5v extra headroom so let's say 2x12 secondaries would give over 33 vdc
Target v is 18 and 60ma with excessive headroom of 100ma, total 160ma
I d use 2 red and 3 green LEDs, will check Vf later.
R103 would be something like 2k5 and trimpot 1k
R101 11.8 r with 1 w rating
Is this correct ? :)

Thank you. Because voltage is +- 3 v of 15 v and normally device is powered with batteries i thought it would be ok to go for 18v too. But if i lower it to 15 as average i can choose 2x9 transformer. It will reduce excessive dissipation ..
Which will give approx 22 vdc
With same 160 ma
There i d choose 1k8 for r103 and trimmer is 1k
R101 is 11.8 r or to buy your suggested resestance ?
Is enclosure floor is enough for dissipation ?

Hello!
I've been building the Salas low voltage regulator with the BJT minikit for the purpose of powering my USB-module (5V/0.5A). Everything is built according to the manual (Appendix 1a) with selected 2SK117 (3,4 and 5 mA).
The problem however is that I'm not able to adjust the 1K resistor to the appropriate 5V out. Everything works great up to 4.7V but no further. I've tried different transformers with different voltages with very little change.
Any solutions - anybody?
Best regards, and Merry X-mas!
