SPU Cartridges and Transformers Thread

Hi, Yes for the Cap to work on the 103, it must be an interference fit or glued in. Recently I found this frequency sweep of the 103 without cap & with interface fit cap.
That lead me to develop my own cap, which has a top screw with it that allows for the cartridge base to be tensioned.
Now the 103 is a viable alternative to my Ortofon Kontr 'B'

Cheers

That looks nice. Does the wood on the front affect the sound too? Audi Muskraft has a shell with several screws that tighten against the cartridge to tune it. Its quite expensive though. Do you think the pressure of the screws is as good as expoxying it in ? i think I saw one like yours for sale in New Zealand . Was that one of yours ? Guenth

Hi, I used the wood front for two reasons
  • I helps to damp in the Alli cap, after all everything has resonances.
  • It was easier to manufacture & looks better.

I do not know if the screw loading is better than gluing the 103 in place. However once glued in, there it stays. With my version the 103 can easily be removed from the cap.
Yes, I am home in NZ at present, that was version 1, for sale.

Cheers
