Hi all,
The first post from me on this forum…
Topic: the Vintage design Seas Embla
Here’s the thing.. Today I have a cabinet which is nearly identical in proportions and volume to the Seas Embla design. I'm using a "off-the-shelf-2-waycrossover", 1 Seas P17RCY mid-woofer and 1 Seas H 392 tweeter.
However.. I’m quite interested in building myself a pair of Emblas, but it would be really nice if I could use my P17RCY’s … + I’ve read that the Seas P17RCY is a bit nicer than the Seas P17REX.

P17RCY/H352: http://www.seas.no/seas_line/woofers/H352.PDF
So, I was wondering if any of you guys think it would require major changes to the Embla crossover if using the P17RCY instead of P17REX (if it’s even possible with good results?)
What do you think, can this be a good idea? is it worth it? (can it be done? – by a total noob, that is), have you any suggestions to modifications of the Embla crossover?

hi,
http://diyaudio.co.kr/wwwboard1/data/board3/falcon.pdf
70. 'HELIUM' SEAS H352/H392. Small 2 way reflex (PCB8) £10.50
Now all you have to do is find the crossover details.
Falcon may be able to tell you.

Ok... I think that my first post maybe was a bit fuzzy...
The speaker I have today is a kit using seas drivers "P17RCY/H352" and "H392"...
Beside that speaker I have two nearly finished cabinette, conveniently with same dimensions as the Seas Embla design...
I thought it would be nice to build myself a pair of Embla with the right tweeter but a different woofer - the P17RCY - instead of the P17REX that's used in the Embla design...
However, what kind of changes to the embla crossover (designed for P17REX) do you think is necessary if the P17RCY would be used.

P17RCY/H352: http://www.seas.no/seas_line/woofers/H352.PDF
I fully understand if the question is a bit heavy, and not easily answered...
But anyway... thanks for the reply though
Cheers! /Fred

Hi,
I understood the question. Your current crossover is likely awful.
If you can find the detsils of the "Helium" crossover you should
use that c/o rather than modify the Embla.
Though a modded embla c/o will be better than any "stock" c/o.

Re: Re: Seas Embla with different woofer (P17RCY)
Alright.. Sounds somewhat promising. Thank you for having a look..
..And the same to you, sreten. Sorry I got the impression you didn't understand my question Cheers!
Now I know where to start my little project... - either try to get a hold of the helium crossover, or tune my cabinettes diferently AND try to get a hold of a pair of the tweeters used in the Embla. Aparantly they have gone out of production.. (second hand maybe)
Anywho... thank lots for the input and help..
Will update the thread when I've decided what to do!

You may be able to use the same box tuned lower.
