I want to search for choke input filter and how to design such.

How should I format the search words:
choke
input
filter
design

First attempt found 251 Threads

Can I use + between words?
or "worda + wordb" to force the search to find combinations of words/phrases?

What else works to narrow the search results?

If you mean at diyaudio, go to search, advanced search, enter keys words then 'search titles only'

Well, I could not find a reference to using Boolean searches here at DIYA, but most database software uses Boolean search operators. It was easy enough to test, I just tried a few Boolean operators and was able to manipulate my results. So, it appears to work. Why not try it and see for yourself?

searching titles only for:
choke input filter
choke input
The word order does not affect the results.

both give relevant results without excessive returns.

It then seems that looking for links inside the Threads is a good way to find other useful Threads, that may not be titled similarly

Is there a way to search for links inside a Thread?
Neither Thread tools, nor Search this Thread offer this option.

I entered Andrewt in poster and thorough in the search and asked for posts in the last week by andrewt with thorough in the entire post
and got this
Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search : thorough

What's wrong?

How many times has thorough been used in a post in the last week?
How many times has Andrew T used the word thorough in the last week?

Finally found my post. here it is:
Thanks I'll have a thorough read.

What am I doing wrong?

thorough is neither too long, nor too short.
It seems that "very common" may have excluded it from being a valid search term.
Which is why I asked, "how many times" !!!!!

I had saved the screen with the passage I wanted to read. But had another power cut this morning @ 0508hrs and lost my link and download list.

No wonder I can't find what I want !

Can the Vbulletin data base be altered by the Forum administrators?
Particularly for a word that is not common.
I suspect that one use was the only use in the 7day search period.

I had tried a 1day period and thought from nothing found that it was more than 24hours previously.
