I'm a big fan of separate PSU for driver stage in SET and I did not try "powerdrive" yet. I should try it, but I regret to give up the PSU for driver to obtain a negative voltage to the FET
But perhaps I ran ones.
I don't like half wave rectifiers (hum, larger I(c1) peeks, complicated filtration...)
IMHO using graetz (or full wave with CT transformer) from good diodes (UF4007, FRED/HEXFRED schottky or SiC) is one-time -maybe little expensive- investment, but this means less trouble.

I used Transcendar OPTs (TT-020-OT) and have been very happy with them. I use them on a TSE board running 300B tubes. While Transcendar don't offer power transformers, they do have several models of Chokes which can work for the optional PS choke of the TSE (ugly though, so best kept under the chassis).
