I like their aesthetic. If people are prepared to pay it, its a reasonable price.
Now to get me some oak, and some Augies!

Hi Jedy
The photograph looks very attractive.
What are the drivers?

Hello dear Audio friends,
I am Ze'ev from PureAudioProject, this is my first post at this great Forum and I am excited to respond to this thread...
We've been working hard to bring the simplicity and the bliss of Open Baffle speakers to music lovers that are NOT DIYers.
You all are well familiar with the sonic and emotional experience that good dipole Open Baffle speakers provide but most (if not all) music and audio enthusiasts that haven't walk the DIY path are totally unfamiliar with that and are even skeptical and sometimes cynical about the option having a 'true high end' set-up that is so simple, transparent and 'hand-made' ... Well, we stopped counting the surprised and smiling faces and the 'awe' responses of fans as well as industry executives and journalists at one-on-one sessions and during the first shows we participated...
From very early stages we had folks approaching us, that are DIYers with impressive deep understanding of all aspects of audio electronics and acoustics, however, executing wood-work tasks was beyond their reach.
We therefor, from time to time ,supplied them only parts of our products(baffles feet, hardware parts, various plans etc...) and witnessed how this helped them to experiment various configurations, simplifying and improving the sonic results and the final look of their project.
We therefor decided to arrange our offering for DIYers and to offer the unique major components of our product separately (all shipped from Germany), .
These are:
- 10" and 15" Hardware Kits
- Baffles & Feet (sets or build plans)
- 10" Open Baffle Bass Woofer (made for PureAudioProject by Morel)
Bass is a critical issue in Open Baffle speakers and after trying various drivers we simply adopted the legendary Eminence Alpha15A for most 15" configurations. However, 15" OB sets are relatively wide and not suitable for smaller rooms that many of us have (especially when living in major cities). After trying various 10" bass woofers we approached Morel and gladly they responded to our challenge and designed a 10" Bass Woofer specifically for narrow Open Baffles (ours are only 42cm wide). https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...219967.-2207520000.1393063819.&type=3&theater This 87db driver with Qts>1 and weight of less then 2kg is easy to ship and mount and provides a deep, natural and highly musical reproduction of the low notes with great authority and actually allows building narrow Open Baffle towers for any room size !
Hope the lengthy review above clears a bit the path PureAudioProject has taken and that our HW Kits (10" and 15"), Baffles & Feet plans or sets, our
(Morel) 10" Open Baffle Bass Woofer contribute to our desires to experiment, build and enjoy our favorite music playing gracefully from great looking dipole Open Baffle Speakers...

If you want a narrower baffle but deep bass with an OB, use a slot-loaded multi-driver woofer array. This is a 12 in wide baffle with 7 in deep wings.
Here was my initial concept sketch (wings not shown for clarity):
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full-range/249984-cheap-fast-ob-literally-7.html#post3805024
Then implemented in a test enclosure with qnty 6 x 6.5 inch woofers:
And here is the frequency response using <$40 worth of drivers (7 total):
Corresponding impulse response:
They sound great - very natural with surprisingly deep and articulate bass with -30dB harmonic distortion below 80 Hz, and about -50dB HD above 150 Hz.
I think a similar build can be made with qnty 4 x 8 inch drivers and still keep narrow profile.

Interesting construction. I can't remember ever reading about that slot-loaded woofer array.. could you please tell me more?If you want a narrower baffle but deep bass with an OB, use a slot-loaded multi-driver woofer array. This is a 12 in wide baffle with 7 in deep wings.

Thanks for this interesting link, Jedy.
My Italian unfortunately sucks, but the published schematics and products do speak to me. I like the design too! very nice
Zs1962,
We can't see the images you have in your links at the bottom of your last post.
Ooos
I will repost in few hours... sorry...

Zs1962,
That is a nice looking and very clever modular OB design.
Btw, for us diyer's another way to make modular OB frames is to use German-made Bosch structural aluminum rails - which are actually very cost effective and can be ordered cut to any length free of charge. I have made some nice sturdy workstation tables with casters and leveling feet using this method.

Thanks for the warm and welcoming response and the relevant link XRK971 !
We actually provide the feet and baffle plans (with our HW Kit) and these are 4X4cm(front) and 4X7cm(rear) simple 'wood rails', cut to any length as per your desired baffles configuration, with 6.5mm drills thru for both, the anodized aluminum 'side support bands' in the HW Kit and the front baffles.
Very simple task...
To change the configuration or baffles size will require only few 'drills thru' or new wood feet (in the worst case). The HW Kit stays the same and serves any configuration. As an example, see pictures from HiFi Tage Show in Germany of:
- Duet15 AN12 HW Kit and Baffles & Feet Set (Bamboo), with baffles size of 54X42cm for the 15" Eminence Alpha15A Bass Woofer and the 12" AudioNirvana Super12 full range driver. BTW, the feet length in that configuration is 107cm...
- Trio15 TB complete (German Oak, smoked, white oil) with same baffles sizes for the Eminence Alpha15A (connected in parallel) and a 54X30cm middle baffle for the Tang Band W8-1808 full range driver. This set comes with a crossover and can also be set in bi-amping mode.
Equipment: Avid MBox sound card (in the middle), miniDSP in the Duet, passive XO in the Trio, 2 X Class-D Hypex UcD400HG+HR based DIY mono-blocks, BlueJeansCables... Simple

Just what is expected?
Cortex frying highs, and super lows that crack plaster in walls and make small animals freak out! I can recall people building 'tunnels' in their floors for larger chambers. Huge pipe organs are still best listened to in churches that still have them. Between the size of the rooms and the power or the organs, one can get a 'moving' experience. Trying to duplicate this is an interesting concept. Spending the money to do it is questionable. Travel and enjoy what is out there; live! Reproduced music is always disappointing.

Not to me, I have heard lots of trashy rock concerts, with over the top SPL (almost deadly) and terrible distortion. Much more satisfying is well engineered recording from the same rock group, which worked on it for months, made numerous cuts and work their *** off to made perfect record...Reproduced music is always disappointing.

Dear Mr. ZE,EV,
many compliments for your dipole.
The Dipole of Eng. HELENA BANU is small of dimensions, have a greater sensibility and the low frequencies of loudspeakers BEYMA to be more powerful of MOREL.
I listen this Dipoles and be amazed for the naturalness and the good reproduction of the very low frequencies and with extreme control.
Two woofers of 25 cm have many difficulty in small environments, while the woofers of 20 cm be ideal.
I recommend to you of try this loudspeakers for get very low frequencies.
Very interesting the project of BIG Mr. NELSON PASS !!!
Many compliment to ALL :<)))

I have built the TRIO15.. They are simply amazing! Check out the PureAudioProject Facebook page and read the blog "Thomas from Iowa"..
I had a blast building them - simple, if you have the woodshop - thanks Nick BTW -
Ask any questions you may have, ill be happy to answer.
