In fact, in the hey-day of tubes (a few decades ago) one could get commercial cable-end connectors (male and female) for both 9-pin and octal sockets/plugs. The latter a little on the large side, but used for h.t, mains, etc. I have not seen such for more than 15 years, though.

Actually, you can still get them. The octal plugs are still available at triode Electronics, and at Antique Electronic Supply.
