I was saying two things, the hum/noise had gone almost entirely after re routing the grounding. there is more I could do but I will leave that for the next attempt. the other problem was actually caused by a bad solder point in a speaker cable. So it was easily overcome. Thank-you for your reply though, I appreciate all the help I have been getting from everyone. There is so much to learn!
