question about input sensitivity

Gotcha, I was mixing it up with the version that does contain silicone.

I wonder if not it can be the input capacitor that has dried out.
You mention loss of bass.
Of course an old and worn out pot can be the fault, too.

There are2 things that will suffer of old age:
- Electrolytic capacitors
- Carbon potentiometers

The full sound came back after moving up and down the tape monitor switch and the input selector above it. they need to be cleaned all of them..

I am a happy user of W40, the original moisture displacing product. Works like wonder to free jammed stuff. However, it looks like lubricating, but this is not so, it will jam again, sooner or later.
The right procedure is to unstuck with W40, then lubricate with thin oil.
Under the brand name W40 they market several other spray can, claimed to be good at various tasks. I do not know, how good those are.
Now we have contact cleaner spray can with the W40 logo. On the same shelf we have contact cleaner spray can without the W40 logo...a close look at contents and where it is made shows it is exactly the same stuff. Marketing wonders.

I didn't put any spray yet the sound came back by moving the tape monitor switch up/down several times with the noise who disappeared and its playing ok.

But still need to be cleaned with a spray
