Good someone is checking my work ;). Thanks dviswa for the comment. Zen Mod is right, his cookbook lists the correct value. I will post a corrected spreadsheet shortly.

Could it be that what current isn't used by the load gets forced through the shunt??? This brings up the question, what is the maximum current load for the Shunty?.

The books I have don't get very specific about discrete shunt regulators. :scratch:

BDP

I'm not sure that I understand question ;

btw - those books you have are then good for nutin' .......... :rofl:

ok - look just at positive side of Shunty :

CCS made of Q2/Q3 is pushing current set by 0V65/R7 = 140mA

Pumpkin will eat ,spend ,waste, whatever you like - around 80mA of that PUSHED current

rest of 140mA is spent,wasted,shunted ,eaten,whatever you like - with Q11.........because Pumpkinlike stage preceding Q11 is measuring voltage at output ....... and telling to Q11 to keep it at 36V above ground

'nuff?

Maybe, but if you google for "New Zealand' s #1 Internet Dating Site", you get an interesting top result...
