Hi folks anyone know how the buttons on the ps3 work. They are sort of embedded into the case so that there are not moving parts or holes in the case. They seem to be touch sensitive or something. I'd like to try using a similar idea with a project but have no idea what they are.

Look for QT110 chip.
It's a single touch sensitive switch IC.
I think Quantum was bought by Atmel, because I can only find the QT110 on Atmel website now :S
Anyway, there is planty of information about QT110 and similar on the web.
Eg : http://www.lextronic.fr/P1776-capteur-capacitif-qt110.html (in French, but the schematic and picture are quite self explaining)
