Hi Folks,
This is my first post here having lurked around the forum for a while now. I'm in the process of building a valve phono stage. The circuit/electronics are all sorted, so now plans have shifted to the case. I've attached a schematic of the proposed layout for the valves and transformer, with the valves being numbered in accordance with their position within the circuit (i.e 1 is the first valve etc.). My query is can any of the more experienced DIYer's spot anything inherently wrong with this layout or suggest a more sensible layout? Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers,

Hi,
It's not just real estate but you'd need the proper xformer too...
Either way, phonostages and AC heaters don't really wed too well...
Cheers,
The 6SL7s are going to be AC heated for the moment, though there is enough room to implement a DC heater circuit.

Frank is RIGHT. Energizing heaters with DC in phono stages is MANDATORY.
It's just possible that a RCA circuit built around genuine 7025s or Sovtek 12AX7LPSes would have tolerable residual hum levels. Without the spiral wound hum bucking heater, there isn't a ghost of a chance.
