Agus, banyak sanak saudara dan sobat sobat di Indonesia sedari 40 tahun tahun, saya belanda pucat.
I just love orang orang.

What's the power rating of the Sanken amp ?
O.. Aku tahu di sana banyak yang suka lagi kroncong juga.. bahasa jawa juga.. etc. about sanken i am use sanken 2sc 3858 y and 2sa 1494.. 200 power rating. my power just running with rail voltage 60V and single toroid 10A.. i don't know to calculate .. how many watts my power amplifier, i am just have older instrument Multitester SANWA AX313 (was bougth at Japan 12 years ago!)

And here picture front panel of GONG power amplifier.. look at some water on the floor... he he he:D

regards

Hello friends, here is my baby :)

At a glance it's 4 x 220W@8Ohms, 4 x 420W@4Ohms or 4 x 750W@2 Ohms.
However the simultanuse operation on four2 ohms loads is undesirable
due to lack of energy in capacitors and those condition may excide rectifier
limits. Also the amps may be bridged by pairs separately giving 2 x 1500W @ 4 Ohms.

First the transformer is: SEC 4 x 46V/16A; 3000VA continous duty without cooling,
4000VA cont.duty with exhausting fan,
6kVA 1 min O.L. 8kVA 10 sek Overload capability; custom made.
The Rectifiers: First Idea to use something better than 50A rated grey boxes
rectifiers. OK: Ixys FRED's but, 30A too weak, 60A Not aviable,DSEI2x101-06 on site :)
100A contignus RMS capability, 1300A single pulse !! AND 1V drop @100A forward
current! This is the device I like and need :)

Two rectifiers bridges are fed from two sets of secondary windings.
The capacitors: considering 3000W total full power I neede 300J charge on
each rail. calculation shows 166.000mikroFarads @ 60V on each rail. Using
22.000uF/35V units which are resonably cheap, it meant 60 caps to form two
batteries of 0.166F / 70V to hold the needed charge. but no place for 60
caps. Only 40 can be resonably located in this enclosure. So If this amp
scholud operate on 4 loads of 2 Ohms each, drived by the same signal , there
is not enough charge to suport full reated power @20Hz.

Considering the load hanging on two bridged
units we need 300J calculated @ 120V (both rails are forwarding the curent;
path is not going throu PSU midle tap). For dual bridged setup right now I
hold a charge of 400J - Very exactly enouhg. The PSU in this amp is totally
excellent setup.

In the setup shown on picture the monitors are connected to a stereo pair
2x420W@4ohms, two woofers paraleled to one 1500W bridge.

The amp topology itself it's a study based on combination of Krell/Leach design with no global feedback. The sound is very stable open and big. Together with those speakers I can get over 130dB SPL without audiable distortion. The speakers are based on Beyma drivers; also a DiY :) I would be hapy to answer if anybody will be interested on further details.

Could we see the schematic?

Hi !

Just for a short one before my jurney: here please find the schematic. This one was for a smaller amp. In the big unit the high rails are both +/-75V@idle unreg, main rails +/-63V@idle the pre-driver 15030/15031 pair is fed from 75v, the driver sc5200/sa1943 from 63V. There is 6 Paralell output devices 5200/1943. No global Fb, but was also tested with. The protection cirquitry was adapted from LC millenium as I remember. I wil be out for a week. Regards to all. Piotr
