Pamook,
I like your bookmatched wood panels. Did you resaw and mill those yourself or find a lumber source the wood stacked in order? Nice woodworking overall!
Jeff
Hi Jeff, and thx
i used what I had at hand, and this time I found a stack of oak veneer leftovers a friend of mine gave me, then made a laminate of 6-7 layers with chosen front ones first. The pieces were glued with standard waterproof wood glue, I rotated every layer for 180deg to avoid warping once it dries completely. Then it was cut to size and glued to the front of aluminum chasis with polyurethane glue...
For the tools, everything I have has a precision of a dull axe and takes a good amount of time and concentration (fingerwize LOL) but the end result is good. I wish I had at least a good circular saw and a small planer but for now, only what you can see in the photos - hand powertools, small circular and mitre saw, cheapo drillpress... lets say "DIY" as good as I can manage
none the less, I enjoy working with wood and metal, as far as free time, budget and materials allow... oh, and WAF, ofcourse

Hello all,
I'm just a lurker on the tube forum. I built a 45 tube amp a few years back but it was under some high tutelage.
This time I built from a series of PCBs but I put my own twist on this favorite: the Aikido.
Thats my Supratek Chenin beside it...

Hello all,
I don't like it but it's original so 10 points. This message goes out to all dyers: if your diy amp ends up looking like some chinese ebay crap then you have FAILED, you have failed miserably.
This time I built from a series of PCBs but I put my own twist on this favorite: the Aikido.
I am curious, exactly what circuit did you use? Perhaps 4P1L anode follower to Aikido cathode follower?
Thanks for the kind words
I don't know what 4p1L is. I just used J Broskies octal board and one of his simple PSU boards, his switches, his attenuator...
I have wired the front socket for Locktol, switches for either 7n7 or 7f7 front/input tubes. Outputs are 6sn7GTBs.
On this build output caps are of Hugh import. I ended up with Russian Pio. It sounds amazing!
