The removable back is a design feature I put into the pencil cabinets to help people tailor the damping to their particular requirements.
Just for reference, I would recommended avoiding the use of foam in these cabinets.
I wondered about that. Just polyfill in them according to the spec then add/remove to taste correct?

Yes, 6P and 6M are two precise small sized full range drivers and hard to find the same in this class in the market.
That is one STOUT little 3-incher!

Right.
Once stuffing has been tailored to the end-user preference, is there anything to gain by sealing , as in making air-tight, the cabs?
I would think that gluing the back on would increase rigidity, push panel resonances up and gain you some advantage.

I'm thinking of those Onken type, slightly trapezoidal shaped cabs for the 10.2'sI would think that gluing the back on would increase rigidity, push panel resonances up and gain you some advantage.

but maybe a pair of Pencils too.
Any thoughts, Dave?

Hi Scott,
If don't use of foam in the cabinets, use longer white poly cotton upto the top cabinet?
Thanks,
Tony.

Hi Scott,
Should the damping like in this way?
Thanks.

That's what it's designed for. Just be careful it doesn't get between the cone & the motor assembly.

A pair Pensil 6 were complete.
Do you have any closeups of the emblem? I can't really make it out in the pics.
What is it mean?

Listened to Katrine Madsen's "I'll keep you satisfied", the vocal, electric guitar and drum were very clear with lots of details. Paper cone and cap made the vocal smoother and warmer. Bass is remarkable for such small sized full range driver. Pensil 6 should be very good for playing in the room areas of 100-120 square feet.
