Tribute Passive preamp
Agreed that Pieter is the man when it comes to amorphous-cored transformers. There are none better that I know of.
I built a passive preamp based around one of his autoformers. You can see pics at http://www.edsawyer.com/tributepassive/
I have his iron in a bunch of other gear too (amps, preamps, etc.), it's as good as it gets. The wait is long, but worth it.

great (wood)work
Hi Ed,
beautifully done !
And as it's obvious you like wood.....Tribute even made on special order that very attenuator switch with wooden casing.
It's done for a Dutch audio-hobbyist who really is "wood-addicted". His site, www.dhtrob.com, is in Dutch but here you can see capacitors / resistors / amplifier casing / cd casing / etc made out of wood.
Again: great work.

silver wire transformers
Reinout,
do you know the transformers from Amplimo? They have silver wire versions of some of their (toroidal) output transformers..... I was contemplating, but they are VERY expensive and I wonder whether anybody tried.....

Hi ReinoutdV,
Congratulations for your nice attenuator.
I own a TVC but I'm interested in an autoformer too. This one seems excellent and not so expensive. I think I'll "transform" my transformer into an autoformer
I have some questions:
Anyone tried a TVC wired as autoformer? Analog_sa??
Should I use only the secondary or solder also the primary winding?
Hi Ed Sawyer,
How do you rate the Slagle attenuator, compared to the Tribute?
Thanks in advance for your replies
