Pass STAT Headphone Amplifier Concept

Unfortunately, as with many parts suitable for analgue circuits, parts are disappearing by the day.
The only 2 FETs suitable for the current circuit are IXTP01N100 and IXTP02N120P.
The former is still in stock at Mouser, etc. The latter out till April or May.
The Onsemi NDFPD1N150C which I also considered suitable is already obsolete after only a couple of years.
Probably not much demand for high voltage low current devices.

One more looking good from datasheet but hasn't been tried is STP5N105K5, in stock.

So if you are interested in taking this on, maybe time to stock up.
Resistors are Dale CPF3 and CPF1, nothing exotic.
Caps are WIMA.MKPs.

Power supply is 700V 35mA per channel, plus 18V 20mA for the input buffers.

Didn't know there are interests in this exotic thing. :)
...
Maybe more than you think. :)
Recently, I managed to snatch 2 (two) late model Jecklin Float's, to replace my long lost original one.
They sound wonderful, way better than all the other non-static 'phones I have.
I checked the power supply, and the 4 signal transformers look suspiciously cheap to me.
Quad in Germany is offering a revamped version with man-sized transformers, everything else remains the same, more or less.
I'm thinking of building a direct drive amp for them. It's a bit more difficult than the Stax's, the Jecklin's needing about twice of everything: 1.2-1.5 KV bias, 1:120 step-up ratio.
Of course, my guts say tube is the way to go, but I'm more than happy to see your take.
Happy New Year, and,
加油!

Bias is one thing, the amp supply voltage is another.

The max supply voltage this will take is 700V.
So in theory max differential voltage at the phone is say +/-650V.
The minute you go above 800V, things become very difficult, and expensive.

Just you don't have any false hopes.
But of course you can take Nelson's original and use SJEP170's.
But you will have to figure out the rest on your own.
