Situated on hill, only 9% sales tax, no import tax.
$71K instead of $91K for 150's

Still means that the OS is actually in the penthouse suite, the 40 in the bottom are a bunch of coal-minor slaves.

Saw the B4 thing checking out demo models on Lowther America. Thouhht you migt have an idea of what the change might be. Other than adding varaible Q of filter, not sure what could change. Thinking perhaps buffer type or different arrangemment of filter, non saleen.

that's just another funny proof that you're more trusting to what you see on pics and read between fuzzy lines , than what Mighty Moi is telling ya

:spin:

The four massive banks of output devices used in the X and XA series became six massive banks, with the bias current provided by the constant current sources increased by a factor of ten. This expanded the
single-ended power range by a factor of 100.

Dear people. Fig.1 of US 5376899 is an approximate schematic of the X and XA Super-Symmetry [TM] amplifiers. Actual schematics [per buzzforb] have not been published, and are not essential to analyze them and Xs. Assume that the attached Fig. 1 is what we are speculating about. It keeps this thread alive; despite it not a diy; but a commercial entity. But; we can birth a paper baby diy out of it.
  • The power output ports center at common/ground voltage. Mr. Pass calls these outputs "live", and will drive any loudpeaker safely.
  • The amplifying devices of the output stage are banks of P-MOSFETs # 30 and # 31.
  • The constant current load to the output stage P-MOSFETs are # 34 and # 35.
  • Current source # 25 is equal to #27 [very small for the front end] and # 35 [huge].
  • Current source # 24 is equal to # 26 [very small for the front end] and # 34 [huge].
  • And there is a small amount of loop feedback
  • I count 7 wires for/in the Speakon. V+, V-, Signal ground, # 28, and # 29, CCS+ [for OUT+], and CCS- [ for OUT-]. I'll add a bonus 8th Star ground wire for the huge caps in both enclosures?
  • That is a custom-made Speakon cord. Twisted [signal balanced] pairs with optional shielding to minimize crosstalk; per jacco's earlier concern.
Actually, each of the 4 Figures in the patent fits Xs, and power MOSFETs of both polarities are used. I'll post a functional schematic for a baby power diy using Fig. 2. The key is to have it in 2 boxes to get the simulation right.

SUSY is beaten almost to death ( even if that tiny difference comprised in "almost" is very important ) , but SUSY is damn different from Ultrasymmetric

even if both can be made with UGS , but connected differently

catch22 is that Pa himself said somewhere in the past something anegdoticaly in character - in time of patenting SUSY he wasn't aware of all things necessary for SUSY.... or better put - all things not necessary for SUSY

whatever - one thing is sure - XS aren't SUSY (except in that tiny amount of overall feedback , mentioned in OM)

The patent cited shows essentially the circuit of the X600. Many alterations
have occurred since those days, so you don't want to be relying on that
particular diagram.

Thanks Mr. Pass. To me, Ultra-Symmetry [TM] says for every one polarity device there is its complementary. F5 fits this definition. And every F5 [in this model] has an identical twin be fed with out of phase twin input signals.
Best regards.

custom-made Speakon cord.

Uhn-Uhn,

suppose you have a 4-quadrant output stage in the top floor, consisting of 2 Push-Pull OS's, makes 4 banks of output devices.

The Massive current sources are in the lower section, 2 banks of power devices.
Each of these is in parallel with 1 bank of OS devices in the top, to provide the SE current.
Which is in Short Hick's how the "regular" models are layed out.

Now, if these are set-up as constant current sources, they do not require an (audio) signal from the UGS6 board.
One side of the current source is connected to a rail, which is in the bottom section, the other connection is with the output in the top case.

Bottomline would be that the 50-50 split of the electrolytic cap banks is merely physically motivated, not enough room in a single case.
Mains enters in the bottom case, to the toroidal and the rectifiers, then out goes to the 1st lytic banks, and through the umbilical to juice the other six-pack (Xs-150).

Additional connectors in the umbilical would be for the ground connection between the top and bottom cap-banks, plus the 2 links from the L/R top outputs to the current sources downstairs.
Makes a 5-wire total, and Zero need for a Heavily shielded coaxial inside.

With an 8-wire cable :
- 2 in parallel for the Positive rail
- 2 in parallel for the Negative rail
- 2 in parallel for power Ground
- 1 for the Left current source connection *
- 1 for the Right current source connection *

* = less current

jacco vermeulen. We are thinking about Xs, and will understand this puzzle. The objective is to understand this state of the art/science which Mr. Pass believes as expressed by viable schematics, measurements, etc.
  • What is the simplest schematic which describes Xs. Let us ignore for the time being cascoding, parallel devices etc. Let's nail down this schematic first. We know that it uses a constant and not a modulated current source in the output stage. A modulated current source maybe the next generation Xs.
  • What is Ultra Symmetry? Two neutrons or two stable atoms are Ultra Symmetric. Each similar pair is an exact 3-D mirror-image [twins]. It take two identical entities [at least] to express ultra symmetry. Others may have other examples of it.
Best regards
