Measurement of the transistors
I have started to measure the BCXXX-40 I got with goodies bags (Paradise GB)
I tried the Atlas unit again and first test on a sample measure first test Hfe 477 a second test few seconds later measure Hfe 481 is not a big difference considering the 10% tolerance recommended
Measuring with the circuit published by Hesener give me an Hfe of 493 and repeating this give me exactly the same results (for same ambient temperature)
I like to test using Hesener circuit as I can see what is happening especially with the problems arising from touching the transistors
Considering that to build this circuit is really inexpensive I am going to stick with it and
If you have the Atlas you know how often it needs new batteries (I run mine from a dedicated PSU)
In the picture my set up Voltage is 5.0012 Volts (Yes that meter cost more than an Oscilloscope I have)
Temperature at 16 C today (this effect measurement as in video)

So before I start a new batch I line the transistor up on the spare space on the breadboard and then I only use a set of pliers to place the transistors on the test position
No need to do that if you got time Just wait for the transistor Hfe to stop drifting

1000 each of BC337-40 and BC327-40
the 337 are in the 480 to 540 range
the 327 are in the 510 to 600 range

I have not opened the GB bag so far but that is my next Job

Just measured the transistors in the group buy "goodie" bags. Unfortunately, the BC327 were from the -25 group and the BC337 were from the -40 group, so I have no matching devices. I used the transistor tester that Holger Barske recommended here: Paradise – Transistor matching | Holger Barske
For those interested in the statistics, here is the rough distribution of hfe across the lots. Note that I grabbed the transistors with my fingers and inserted them in the tester and immediately measured them. If I waited for them to cool back to room temperature then the hfe dropped 2-3% compared to what's documented here. But I was consistent, so the matching within a group is quite good even though the absolute number may be off.

So I've got plenty of the BC337 that look good vs. the 36 needed for a stereo build. But I need 36 BC327 to match up. I suspect everyone will be in a similar position so I'll order some more BC327-40 unless some kind soul has some extra BC327 that would match with my group of BC337.

One of those that sent PM has opposite problem I have with the Fairchild Hfes for 327 on the low 500 and NPN on the hi 500
Opefully this will pick up after the hollidays and get sorted

I was hoping for this to pick up a bit more maybe if you get in touch with neighbours by pm using GB subscription list we get more response?
Any way mesured the 327 I got with group buy and I got 13 with Hfe around 400 9 with 410
The center of the batch is about 350 so somebody there got my lot 0f 400 Hfe NPN

I will see what I can do but most of my 327 are far to hi or far to low.
I will do my best to sort some out for you.
In the mean time.
1)set up for testing Just a 317 at 5 V (5.0022 today) and a few resistors
There is going to be same tollerance there but is consistant so good enoug
2) Line up the litle soldiers so they go up to temperature on the bread board.
3)over view of meterand thermometer.
4)from now on use pliers to handle the transistors and place them on test point this save loads of time
5)batch ready is going out tomorow.
6)that lamp in there is to keep the lot at a steady temperature (22 C today)
Just move the lamp in out in out to set decent working conditions for the transistors in the mean time I got frost bite on my toes as I work in a cold loft
I will see what I can do but most of my 327 are far to hi or far to low.

OK - I got another set of BC327-40 transistors from Mouser. I got 50 of the On Semi devices and 200 of the Fairchild. Here's how they measure.

- 400-409: 14 (12 used for my build)
- 410-419: 16 (all used for my build)
- 420-429: 7
- 430-462: 8

- 540-549: 10
- 550-559: 9

So based on this set of devices, I think I can build up my Paradise. I'll use 8 PNPs with hfe between 500 and 520 and 8 NPNs between 500 and 510 for the input devices.
The current mirrors will be built with 28 PNPs with hfe between 400 and 420 and 28 NPNs with hfe between 440 and 460.
The transistors not listed as being used for my build are available if they'd be of use to others.

I started a thread some months ago at Holgers homepage about the trannies. There i posted my list of messurement of the GB bags:

My Messurement was at about 20-22 °C in living room. (believe me the WAF is nearly zero) I used an Atlas and after I realised, that temperatur is a not to underestimated fact, i grabed the tiny legs only by the (blue, red, green) pincers. And for some unknown reason i take always leg 1 with red, leg 2 with green an the third leg with blue. Why? Dont know! But for each tran the same terms and conditions.
I only messured once, so the temperatur couldn´t be raised up.
So if you would like to swap someof mine (please let me the 73 pieces of BC 337 between 443 and 461, because I have to build up two sets for me and another "Paradiser").
I need >72 pieces of BC327 in range between 440 and 460 hfe.
Feel free to ask and offer.
And as Bksabath mentioned it is only the Postal rate, nothing more. I think the same way. we are all DIYers and there is no need for profit.

I also offered to open up a german thread for swap BCxxx for those who have difficulties with english language. Maybe i have to translate a little.
