That was my point. Class D Amplifiers with DSP will have substantial protections and the DSP will include compression/limiting.
The SPL figures will be with all those switched OFF. I believe the AES spec (sorry I cannot put the exact spec here at the moment) specifies all amplifier constraints be switched off when measuring SPL in testing passive speakers.
