That's fair enough I suppose. Bit of a shame to break it up though although its probably not worth spending a lot on.

well i only bought it to see how a dedicated cdplayer sounds, seems i didn't achieve that.
I am certainly not preapared to spend a lot of money on it, no chanche to replace DAC or something like that; i was hoping to find a faulty supply rail caps or cheap stuff

I just find it hard to believe a chips gone down tbh

Unknown history, I guess anything could have happened. No breaks in the print anywhere ?

as a hail marry i tried to resolder the dsp ,digital filter and DAC, but still nothing. Maybe someone more experienced could identify the fault but i gave up.
