Try using an 8ohm speakers. I had the same problem only if I ran the amp into an 4 ohm load. It will work fine into 8 so I left it with 8 ohm speakers. It could be a zobel problem. Or your power supply is too high for 4 ohm loads.

There's no chance I would risk doing what you're doing... even if I did just happen to have speakers which I knew didn't go below 8 ohms, but I got it sorted anyway (see a few posts back)
