70% efficiency at what power level?
If you drive a class a/b amp to full power or into clipping, the efficiency can approach and even exceed 70%. The efficiency issues come about at lower power, at 5-10% power output, where the amp will spend almost all of its time. At these lower power levels the effiency will be closer to 20-30%, I don't know how the RF amps could be any different, it's just a property of how class a/b amps work.
