Looks great. That's gonna be my next project after A2. Thanks for the board. How many IRFP240 did you use per side ? Have you build your AX yet.

IRFP 260

I used two 260's for each channel.
My AX board is all stuffed. The power supply and housing are not done yet. I have a couple of other projects in line first.

In the process of making the chasis. If it wasn't for the chasis building process it would be a lot more fun, I think. I just hope it's worth all that when it 's to fire up the amp.

This is the amp I did the higher voltage less current experiments with. That is why there is such a large space for the transformer.

The top is marble. The front is Aluminum and Canary wood.

I don't know if I asked this before, but what should the variable resistor be set to? What are we looking to see? 0 volts at the output? Or, does it set the bias?

AC current gain

It is there so adjust the ac current gain. I just jumpered mine out. Mark asked me to put it in so he wouldn't have to keep changing resistors.

Should C5 be polarized? And, can the LED be off the board? Is it being used as a low-noise zener?

C5 is optional, The higher the value the bigger turn on thump. It does not need to be polarized.
The led can be mounted anywhere. It is just to let you know the amp is on.

my mini-a

Here's my almost completed mini-a. I'll be finished tonight. I'll post another pic tonight.

So far tested the power supply. 19.0 volts solid!

Finally got around to finalize the 1st mini-a channel (boards were stuffed the second day after they arrived, 'bout half a year ago).

2x12V trannies, 2x68000uf stubby +mkp's for a powersupply and its up and running.
I bought some cheap heatsinks from ebay and 1 channel is completly mounted (incl trannie) to the heatsink (30*15cm).

dc is a bit high though under 100mV so I leave it like that. There is some hum but only audible when your is is next to the woofer. The level of hum dropped considerably after putting some resistors in serie to ground.
