Usually toroids don't make for good DC chokes, as they work
all too well and saturate. On they other hand, if they work,
they work.
Cores of toroidal transformers from a lot of companies produce a mechanical hum by the present of unwanted dc components (e.g. unsymmetrial clipping of the sine wave) on the mains (sounds often more like a buzzing noise).
Otoh - there are also companies, whose toroidals are extremly quiet, independend of the mains condition.
Can I assume, that the last kind of transformers also suited as a good DC choke resp. DC inductor?
