Need help : sealed Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1

Wow, what a driver!

indeed, what a beast. i thought they are all the same basket/magnet but in fact 12 VQ is a totally different driver compared to other series (12 / 12.1 / 12.1d)

i just reserved another last 1 pair stock that the store has, waiting for my payday next week :)

my 1st box use 2x18mm plywood on all 6 walls, but the 2nd one only use 2x18 on 2 baffles for the driver. now i will add extra layer for all walls and corner trim to get identical for both of them

existing finish with an old school newspaper vinyl looks boring :D i'm collecting ideas which vinyl colour/texture that will match drivers appearance

when the package arrived yesterday in the afternoon, i only had moment to open it after finishing zoom session at 9pm. dissambly my existing subwoofer for comparison, but did not have a better look for longer, time to bed

now i inspect more of the package, yes the metal steel to adjust Q are provided 2 pieces for medium and high Q, but i will not use it because low Q is better. my 160L box should be fine

honestly i was not so proud of my build, because all 4 drivers were second hand item. but that was my best effort for high price/value subwoofer that can fit into sealed design, had no idea if other driver option to choose

but now with this VQ driver in new condition, it is time to improve box finishing. still looking for a better look

eventhough it has bigger magnet, but datasheet show that 12.1 and VQ have almost same BL, not sure why. but the voice is totally different, 2" for 12.1 and 3" for VQ

i just contacted the seller that i bought my 12.1 drivers, he was surprised that i could get this VQ driver in mint condition and even 4 of them. for years of selling/buying ex-car audio drivers, he never got a hand of this VQ before.

No Insert: 9.67 Tesla meters

Qes:

No Insert: 0.79

when I clean the boxes, just find out rubber seal that should be applied to the basket. i tried to pull the driver but it was tight fit. instead of scratching it, i just apply alot of silicon glue that I used to replace my android phone lcd.

i hope that no any air leakage, eventhough previous one undetected but this is for assurance

Wow, what an amazing project. These are regarded as one of the best car subwoofers ever made, they are extremely rare today, especially the 12VQs. How exactly did you determine these were the best woofer of choice? Most people rarely turn to automotive subwoofers for home audio, especially for a home setup of this caliber. I knew they were pretty state of the art back then and based on the design, I can see why they are still light-years beyond what's out there today in terms of sound quality. I love the magnesium alloy composite they have. Moreover, how the heck did you find so many of these rare units?
