i cannot believe this!!!!!!!!!!!!

How old are you guys? i guess all of you must be 12 or younger.
Never heard of

LENCO

Ii bought a L 75 , have it since 1977 and has NEVER failed nor has it had a defect
The element is a Shure which i bought from a internet radio that went bankrupt, it was still in the original packing, i bought it at an auction and the guy announced it as a radio crystal ????( what the ....). I got it for $5 there was no other bidder for it hehehehe.

The arm has several adjustments and i also have a special set with balance for it.
25 years old and still turning , it is not direct drive nor belt driven but wheel driven.

costed 4600 Belgian franks in 1977 = US$ 110 now .
perfect and High End.

and if i ever would change, my preference would go to a Micro turntable , no one has mentionned this one here as well !!!!!!

Lenco

Dang Frank, beat me to it. I heard a Lenco L75 ages ago, and it sounded really awful, but it may heve just been a bad example. I recall it put me off even considering another idler drive for a long time, and consequently I missed out on some real bargain Garrard 301/401 during the dark ages at the end of the 80's.

I'm glad Jean-Pierre is enjoying his though.

I'd really like one of the Micro Seiki 8000 airplatters. I think the reason nobody has mentioned the MS TTs is price. Even the lower line ones are expensive, and there is absolutely no spares backup for them.

Cheers

TT

Hi,

I'd really like one of the Micro Seiki 8000 airplatters.

That's another sucker...(NO pun!).

The only formidable thing MS ever made was their bronze platter mat.

Brett,

If you want a great TT without breaking the bank look at the Nottingham Analogue designs,I have pushed this man beyond belief for decades.

That's a true friend if I had to define the word.

Even his humblest design would beat a L**n hands down.

Not to mention the tonearms...ah...I just love a good engineer! ;)

Make no mistake the Lenco L-75 is not a Garrard 301/401.

Brett, thanks for giving me the idea to covert the L-07 to record cleaning duties. I'll have to decline your generous offer to buy it though - it's an excellent conversation piece and i'll just keep it for it's entertainment value - gives new meaning to 'home theatre'

cheers

I have Sony Direct Drive PS-X4 -see picture.
Have no plans whatever to buy a new Turntable.

At arm ending there is a round jack,
where the cartridge holder, marked Sony fits in.
4 small pins provide the electric contact
the plug has an diameter of 8 mm.

This cartridge holder has two screws holding the pickup.
Pickup is an Audio-Technica. Cannot see any model number.
Upper part is gold-color, while the needle part is dark red.

Can anybody tell me some alternative Pickups/cartridges
that I could fit in this Arm?

Shell weight is 10.5 gram.
According to Manual I can use Pickups 2.5-14.5 gram

I use a Nokia Carbon Fiber Record Brush
and Anti-Static Record Mat - also with carbon fibres in it.

/halo - needs some good advice

Hi Halojoy,

I found this while seaching for "Sony PS-X4".
Seems like you could help me out.

I just bought a second hand piece of this type. But I have some trouble getting it working. At the backside it is set for 120V/60Hz and I can't get it switched to 240V/50Hz.
Could you help me out with this?
Would it be possible to send me a copy of the manual? (pdf, doc, ....)

Many, many thanks.

Hi rho,

generally such gear has different transformer sub boards for
different territories so its unlikely you can adjust it for 240V.

(you can check this by looking at the power supply arrangements)

As its a direct drive, 50/60hz doesn't matter.

As power is low, < 20VA, a small autotransformer is your best
bet, looks like a "wall wart" but just changes 240V to 120V.

:) sreten.

But there is a "kind of switch" at the backside.
Its not realy a switch but more like a huge "jumper".

Sometimes you have to unscrew a plastic or metal piece above or under the switch (could be on the right or the left) in order to be able to move the switch.
A small picture perhaps?

The switch-lock might as well be located on the inside.

/Hugo :)
