I did not actually measure it but my external power transistor boosted single chip LM3886 could drive 4 ohm loads without a problem at full blast ( clipping ). That must have been 100 watts at clipping.
I must pull out the board and test it again to check what it's power output is.
The fft plot was worse than the 3886 chip by itself but audibly it sounded good.

Never made any actual measurements, but have a look at National's specs for the chip:
- 68W cont. avg. output power into 4Ω at VCC e g28V
- 38W cont. avg. output power into 8Ω at VCC e g28V
- 50W cont. avg. output power into 8Ω at VCC e g35V
- 135W instantaneous peak output power capability
In any case, 68w @ 4Ω is quite a lot.
