Maybe I'm just sick, but I don't find Shostakovich N° 14 sad.
Powerful, disturbing, frightening, yes. But not sad. Well, unless you think about it. Then it's sad - but not the music itself.
Speaking of Russians and the “Great Patriotic War” did you ever see the film by Elem Klimov “Come and See.” ? “Idi i Smotri” . Now that is frightening - and in the end very, very sad. Strange stuff.
...when the cd player craps out...
"The End" - The Doors
Yes, it´s a very solemn farewell for a faint laser...
"The Needle and the Damage Done" - Niel Young
My shure v15 has fifteen years old and the stylus isn´t in very good shape, you know...
"The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" - Gordon Lightfoot
High end amplifiers and 4 0hms speakers don´t work as well as advertised...
I wish to add ¨Smoke on the Water¨ -darling, don´t leave your glass of Perrier over the amp, please...-
¨Money for Nothing¨ -those crappy kevlar reinforced, diamond plated cables...-
¨Stairway to Heaven¨ -keep on disconnecting that **** mains earth to avoid ground loops...-
Happy new year for everybody!!

"Yacht Rock" (the smooth rock genre from 1976-1983) really bums me out man.

An Oxymoron as god as any I know"The Winner of most depressing song"?
No winners only more losers... hehehe

Too right - bland happy clappy music always depresses me a lot more than Nick Cave, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Slipknot and the other usual suspects...
Just about any song that features the truck driver's gear change does it to me - you can usually spot it coming from quite a distance. Honourable exception is My Generation.
