The crystal palace design is well spelled out in the 3rd ED. It looks like a great design from my eyes. MJ elludes to the fact that a EL34's could be used in PPP instead of the esoteric and expensive ones he chose.
He uses the CP amp to teach his design rationale from my estimation more than putting forth a design for anyone to copy. With the information he gives it could be readily adapted to whatever output tubes and iron you wanted to use as SY said.
