Small sealed subwoofers need many, many watts to get decent LF output.

25w isn't close to enough for those.

Most of the time I reckon I could get away with 25w/ch plus subwoofer power. Sometimes I clip my 120w/ch amp, but such occasions are rare, and I try to avoid them for the sake of the tweeters, and my ears.

The amplifier must be able to supply adequate peak output voltage for adequate dynamic range.
The second requirement is that the amplifier must be capable of supplying all the current that the speaker demands.

These two criteria together are not the same as high maximum power.

T.N.T Album...

I think I will need to measure the dynamic range of some of my AC/DC albums.
On real VU meters the needle movement is not much, but plenty of room in the mix for all the sound sources....great mixing and mastering.
Dead Kennedys and especially REM 'What's The Frequency Kenneth' there is NO dynamic range to speak of.
With a really good system this stuff is fun, but a lousy one with any IMD and it turns to ear bleeding real quick !.

Dan.
