Howdy,
I have a basic question regarding momentary switches.
I would like a pushbutton switch that makes contact the first time you push it and breaks contact the second time you push it.
What would this be called? I want to ask for the right thing when I order from Mouser
Thanks a lot,
Paul

A latching push button switch

you can use two (or maybe three) interconnected relays to achieve latching action with a non latching push switch.
Gives you more choice of low current/low voltage switches.
The last relay is the only one that needs to meet your load switching duty.
Yes and the circuit was posted on here some time in the last 12 months or so.

3-pole relays being the price they are, it's an expensive solution.
Another method that works in (my) simulation, you may need to tweak R3 to get the right gate voltage. Adapted from a sci.electronics.design thread with a P-mosfet for Q2, but I couldn't get that to work.
