Consider removing the contaminated air from your bench. By having fans or other air motion to direct fumes away from your face, you will not have to breath them.

There are filter cartridges made for almost any situation including soldering, but, masks tend to be hot and sweaty. When I was doing some painting indoors, I got a cardboard carton, cut a hole in the back for a fan (120 mm?) and made a shroud over the fan so it exhausted into a dryer vent hose leading outside. When I was doing a bunch of soldering, though, I just use a 12V fan running from 8.4 V to blow the fumes away. Running it on reduced voltage made it virtually silent.
