Hello folks,
I have a lightly 'breathed upon' CD6003 > PM7003 > B&W685 setup that is fit for it's purpose (office system) but I was just wondering....
Both the CD & PM use Marantz's discrete HDAM2 rather than opamps, not that I dislike the output but it could do to be a bit more 'dynamic', so not being able to simply swap opamps I was thinking of removing half of the 'sonic signature' by bypassing the pre amp.
The PM7003 has a 'power amp direct' input so I was thinking of building a simple stepped attenuator, probably one of those cheap vishay/dale stereo kits from flebay.
First up, I have no idea what kit I need (25k?) to get a linear output to zero, secondly, will the power amp play havoc with a passive pre?
Any helpers???
