You need about four weeks for the DOS to settle in, it is doing exactly the same thing as the Bursons do. The red leds are on the SPowers which also need to burn in a little.

Hi Brent
My Spowers do not have that special red glow on them
Hi shepperd
Would you post some pics of the upgraded player ?
It's just prettier and has space for an SMD cap to go across the feedback resistor (to quell audible noise when used on simple analoge circuits). I don't think any important parts are changed. I think it's a touch wider physically, but still easy to fit in tight spaces. It's my ninth Spower or Super Regulator in my machine now
Damn! I posted a reply and forgot to log-on. Pretty diodes: stay lit even when you unplug...BIG bad caps holding juice. Pictures? I'm lazy and I don't know how to post a hi-rez photo! and it means taking stuff apart. I'll try...I expect a long rollercoaster ride this time. The player is in shock. I'm hearing things but it's too soon to make sense of. The bass is quite shy and holding back. The treble is very extended, the mids very energetic. There's a longish road to travel yet. Just so you know what I'm listening with: a delicious ICE-based integrated amp courtesy of Panamaniac and J. Sorento (of Wyred), Transmission line speakers from Holland, wires from KCI and Grover Huffman, depending on my mood, and of course the sheep in wolf's clothing aka Marantz. T'aint hi-end but not too shabby!
...Transmission line speakers from Holland...
