LT4320 based active rectifier

Thanks, Ozorfis
How is Imax =7.9A derived ?
Had a second look at the datasheet and I might have been wrong as the calculation is valid for a DC Input, which is probably not the use case for an AC rectifier. For an AC input the datasheet suggests a derating by factor 3 assuming "that the duration of current conduction occupies 1/3 of the AC period."
So my assumption regarding crest factor would also be wrong and the peak maximum currrent would be said 8 amperes. My amplifier probably draws 50 A peak for less than 1/10 of the AC half-period. So I would have to use 4x6 mosfets in parallel - this just can't be right.

Gonna have some drinks now maybe things will seem clearer tomorrow. Happy new year

Probably not and I have seen people driving amps without paralleling devices - so something is wrong with my interpretation of the datasheet. (Delta) Vsd is specified with a max value of 35mV so is probably not arbitrarily chosen in the calculation. I'll just have to build it and see what's going on. Seems strange as such a low peak value would render the device almost useless.

Happy new year guys.
GB is still open for remaining boards. so if anyone wants to sign up, Welcome. Please make entries in google sheet on the page 72 (Google sheet linked in my post) or write a PM to me.
I will be away to Geneva, Switzerland starting tomorrow and returning next sunday.. So, If I am not responding, dont worry, I will do so once I get back.
regards
Prasi

Regarding Post #586.

Do you have the Gerbers for both the NPN and PNP based cap multiplier boards that could be added to replace the “R” in the CRC as shown?

Any negatives from the collective group with regards to using a cap multiplier here instead of placing it on the output of the power supply? Of course, during brown outs (which are rare where I live), you will get 60Hz hum. But, the advantage I see with placing the cap multiplier in the middle, is that there is another large filter capacitor to address any residual ripple. I don’t know if the voltage drop will be more or the same as the “R“ - I imagine it will be more and one has to take that into consideration for the design.

Best,
Anand.
i am asking too ;)

Hi

i collect all THT MOSFET and I look at the datasheets and write it down, so it should be easier to choose for First watt amps (60Vds) r for other reason another MOSFET.
if you find some errors please give me feedback
