open cell foam is of dubious value as a damping material for lining an enclosure fiberglass insulation(i hate the itch factor but it's better than foam) or long strand wool batting or 3/8 felt pads medium density is better IMHO. i also avoid mdf and cross brace the crap out of interior dividing panels until everything is inert (makes no more than a dull thud when tapped with a rubber mallet) i guess i'm kinda ranting because i like the Visaton Fr10 and hate hearing someone dis' it sorry.
i've made several cabinets that turned out to be better drum toms than speaker enclosures.
