Hi L CAO - and Welcome to diyAudio!!
You have Nelson (everyone here likes to call him "Papa") (and Zen Mod) interested and he has many fans and followers - so you will be getting a lot if questions about your speakers. Most likely followed by some request for purchase!!
It is good to see you here!!!

I am looking for a full ranger or high quality midrange, this ranger fits my spec.
How much(approx. is OK) would be the alnico version of this driver?
Nelson Pass said:Actually, in this case I used a 2 pole Sallen Key type filter at about
20 Hz and increased the gain until I got a 6 db bump up.
Is this of particular interest?
YES!
it's here -

>>> The Beta comes with a magnet...
The other day i checked behind the Alpha 15 and the magnet was still small... Don't they grow as the drivers break in?
Went to Home Depot last night (secretly, so not to disturb wife) and had wood cut for my next project... OB using the Alpha 15's... boards only off by 1/4 inch from top to bottom... grrrr! Good thing i own a level and a good sander. Easy to hide OB project behind bookcase out of site too... nice.
The surround on that L CAO looks yucky. Why?
Godzilla

yes, it is a paper extension 1/5 the thickness of the paper cone. i don't know what the coating on the surround consist of, looks like latex?? did you see the "butterfly" spider?
That is a vey interesting looking driver. I am assuming the only way to get a pair is to order from China. No US distributor?
As far as I know they are available from our own member
Highvividity at a reasonable price from Ohio.

I recently spent a last go round with these drivers before
sending them back (they were on loan) and I have to say
that I found them impressive, particularly in achieving good
top end without a whizzer. I presume that the Alnico
versions are even better.

Thanks for the link Nelson, I have bookmarked the site. I am finishing a speaker now and will keep the L CAO in mind for my next system. It will be interesting to see the price of the Alnico pair.
Alnico pair about $384 plus postage from Ebay if cannot get from US. Try,

Hi!
Did Nelson try the new alnico L-Cao? Maybe MJk did?
What news? good stuff?
There's new babies from this brand (a 15" and 6"...) maybe a good match (for the 15") to complete the 8"in the bottom?

Thanks: david

I'm not a speaker designer but the 6" and 8" units are very primitive looking with their cone's paper extended to folds forming the surround. Still the appeal of Alnico at those $$'s, i'd like to see the 6"er's TS parameters and transfer function.
can't comment on "primitive looking" remark but technically it's certainly not primitive at all, on contrary.
