KLH sub amp help

Sometimes that glue turns dark and becomes conductive. It can potentially disturb high impedance parts of the circuit if it covers the leads of components.

A burned smell is not a good sign.

Do you have a DMM to be able to take voltage measurements as previously asked?
 
OK, replaced a few caps and tried it...nothing. Replaced the TDA7294, plugged in the speaker.....a few quick thumps and it quit accompanied by a burning smell.

Any ideas? Or should I just replace the plate amp with my own preamp and amp, salvaging the plate and transformer for my own purposes?
