How would you compare the Fostex FF 225WK to the similar priced Eminence B102 as widerange woofers paired with tweeter for the top ? Both have an efficiency of approx 92-93, can go flat up up to 3-4 KHz, have similar Qt and Fs. Considering the lower Vas, guess the 225WK might need a smaller box for similar bass extension but can handle only 34W compared to the 200W for Eminence that has a 0.75mm better linear xmax.
On my trial OB with H-frame subs, they sound very similar used from 100 - 4KHz. But if used for bass duty also in a MLTL, with SS amplification, I guess the Eminence would be more dynamic overall. Manufacturers like Zu and Tekton too have used the B102 in MLTLs. However, the FF225WK has better and refined looks for home use and if high sound pressure levels are not needed, might win on the SAF factor !!
The Silverflute W20 woofer in a similar application comes close to these two above, albeit with a less refined sound but at a fraction of the cost !!!
