There are about 15-20 resistors in that area that need to be checked. Their resistance should match the marked value.
To test u500 with a multimeter, place the black probe on the amp's ground terminal. Place the red probe on pins 2, 4, 5 and 7. All should read about the same and about 5v, if I'm not mistaken. You will want to check all pins before the main supply powers up. To do this, you must apply remote voltage for about 1-2 seconds then remove it. The driver supply will operate for about 5-10 seconds after remote has been removed. You must measure the voltage on those pins in that 5-10 second window.
