Here are the schematics for the Thor crossovers. These are the redesigned and updated ones from Jimangie1973.

Thanks once again for all the advice

ScottG the links and info are extremely helpful.
I could probably stretch to 1.5k uk but purely from a style / aesthetics pont of view I'm leaning more towards a simple, substance over style, tower design. Certainly some of the thor builds I have seen on here look excellent:

The Thor aesthetic isn't bad.. but having heard the driver's in other designs.. I'm personally not to keen on what the Thor can provide - even at its best. (..clean and un-involving IMO.)

My suggestion is the DTQWT from Troels.

and even cabinet construction is pretty simple:

I think this rendition TQWT, (though it does not include the 2 10" drivers of the DTQW, but could easily), represents the best aesthetic:

(..I'm not fond of Troel's vertical wood inlay "pinstipes" down the front, so Liudas's looks better to me - more monolithic.)

IMO it's a design that can be used for Music and HT (with a good off-axis horizontal response). The cabinet height is about right as well. It's also a design that really doesn't need "up-grading" - ever, (except perhaps for improving crossover components to the ultra expensive Dueland CAST stuff at a much latter time.) Furthermore, it's capable of being driven by a much greater variety of audio equipment - specifically lower powered tube amps should you wish to explore that potential "avenue" at some point.

It is expensive, but it isn't abhorrently so. The Eminence 10" woofers can be had from Blue Aran.

But whatever you end up with, I wish you luck! :)

Hello all,
Just a couple more questions if someone could help.
I have narrowed the choice to just 2.

OPTION 1:
Seas Thor (small thor, using Jimangie1973 XO provided by Mattmcl... Thanks!)
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=1781925#post1781925
Drivers:
W18E001 (woofer)
T25CF002 Millenium (tweeter)

OPTION 2:
Zaph Audio ZRT (2.5 way) (ScanSpeak)
http://www.zaphaudio.com/ZRT.html
Drivers:
18W8531G Revelator (woofer)
6600 AirCirc (tweeter)

Could anyony possibly comment on the potential weeknesses/strengths of either of these systems incomparison to each other?

I'm kind of leaning towards option 2 at the moment (for no other reason than it is my first build and might be a bit easier to get right).
The only problem is that I am finding it difficult to find a 6600 AirCirc in the UK. If I cant get one, I'm assuming that an alternative will require a tweeked crossover design (which is beyond me at the moment!)?

Unless anyone can advise on an alternative, I was thinking about replacing the 6600 AirCirc:

With this (R2904/700009):

Would this present me with any problems?

Many many thanks for your patience!!!

An EGO tweeter. You want a Mercedes but you don't know how it works?!:yuck: [/B]

Could be! But I don't know what an "ego tweeter" looks like either!! Does this come with a matching ego woofer and crossover? Is there a link?

Please be aware that I know very little about DIY and I am hopeful you can understand that we all have to start somewhere. I do'nt know what any of these DIY projects sound like. If there are items that are to be considered 'off topic' please could you advise so I can avoid annoying anyone?

Like I said, I could'nt find the originally spec tweeter so was looking for an alternative. Have since learnt that it does'nt work like this but thanks all the same.
