Is the Nuvistor Better Than The 12B4 For A Line Stage

How can a nuvistor (or any other device) be both "excellent sounding" and "extremely neutral"? If it is neutral it has no sound, no speed and no dynamics - it merely passes on whatever is in the source music signal.

Nuvistors were designed to be small, rugged and low noise at high frequencies (e.g. VHF, UHF). I doubt if audio linearity featured highly on their spec list.

Any semi-remote pentode will be non-linear. Poor choice for audio unless you are doing compression or effects box.

7586 is a triode. However linearity looks poor. For a mic amp it might be ok, but for a line amp I would chose another tube.
