AR was a classic turntable, one of the best selling ever. The design was copied by Linn some years later, but with a marketing story and a markup. They make wonderful platforms for building a very high performance belt drive table on a tight budget. Because there were so many of them made and they were in production for so long, they're pretty easy to find.
Some TTs seem to match up better with certain systems and listening environments.
What are you trying to say?
It had a few names over the years. AR, AR XA, and probably a few others. All were "AR," and all AR tts were basically the same- newer ones looked a little slicker and had better arms, but the table part was essentially the same. Last one I got was an AR XA- a few minutes with a milling machine and it was all set for a Grace 707 II arm, which worked beautifully on it. Total cost was under $200.
what the name of the AR, just AR?
