I need a MC7805ABTG, can I use a L7805CV?

The Data for a MC7805ABTG is "Linear Voltage Regulators 5V 1A Positive" Datasheet

The Data for a L7805CV is "Linear Voltage Regulators 5.0V 1.5A Positive" Datasheet

I'm not sure if the amps matter in a voltage regulator as long as its not less than.

You can go to a higher current rating, generally. When using substitute parts, very few things are absolute, so... generally.
